Whale Whale

Standard

We celebrate when the right whales return to the coast of Georgia with their little whale babies with Toddler Tuesdays whale theme.

We practiced breathing like a whale, holding our breath and pahhhhhh blowing out!  We talked about flukes and fins and played a little categorizing and matching with our plastic toy whales.

We read the story Breathe by Scott Magoon about life of a baby whale:

breathe whale

Speaking about Beluga whales, we sang the famous Baby Beluga, this time with a little old time spin with the banjo.

Finally, using our blow holes we practiced blow painting through a straw.  We used watered down washable markers to create a watery world for our coloring of the right whale and her baby.

  1. I really like seeing your crafts….I may use some of this ideas if and when I do a story time at my local library. As a former children’s librarian I think your nature/story times and crafts are great.
