Sounds of Summer

Standard

We made an orchestra of sound yesterday.  It was all about the sounds of summer nights…frogs, toads, crickets, cicadas and katydids.  We made a insect chorus with shakers and after we went into our portable planetarium to gaze at the night sky and make some night sounds as we read an interactive story called Quiet Night by Marilyn Singerquiet night

The take home was a noise making cricket.  There is a piece of plastic comb glued onto the inside of the toilet paper tube and when they run their nails along the comb it makes a night insect noise.
