No Scaredy Squirrels Here

Today’s theme was suppose to be all about the flying squirrels, but then we had some unexpected baby grey squirrel baby visitors so the theme was just “squirrels”.

Today’s story introduced my new favorite children’s literature character “Scaredy Squirrel” by Melanie Watt.
Scaredy Squirel

In this first adventure of SS, we find out that he is no ordinary squirrel. After he takes a big leap out from the safety of his home he glides far and away to the bushes only to learn that he is a flying squirrel.

Our craft was based on the epic saga of Scaredy Squirrel, “Too scared to come out of his tree” puppet:

It was such a great group and a great time!

  1. strange that your story time was squirrels this week….I have heard at least 4 squirrel stories this week….true stories…plus seeing the squirrel scene in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory..that was a SCARY Squirrel story… sounds like this was a fun story time…
