Won’t you BEE my valentine?

We had a sweet day learning about honey bees. We played the Bee’s Knee’s. The little ones had to pick pollen off of a flower (large foam balls) using their knees and then walk it back to the hive and drop the balls in the hive. We learned that it was quite hard to move pollen like a bee without the proper anatomy (pollen basket). It was quite cute seeing little toddlers trying to pick up fuzzy balls with their knees and carry them back to the hive.

We learned why wearing brown clothes when going into a hive is a bad idea after reading the Honey Bee and the Robber by Eric Carle

The bee twirler craft was very fun!

A very special thanks out to Sidda for the honey sticks. What an appropriate idea for our theme today, and for a Valentine. You are super sweet Sidda!
